PRESIDENT BUHARI SUSPENDS 12 DIRECTORS OF EFCC TO ALLOW AN UNHINDERED INVESTIGATION OF CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the suspension of the 12 directors of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with immediate effect.
This was contained in noticeof suspension sent to the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Umar yesterday, Tuesday, signed by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
Brave Views correspondent gathered that President Buhari suspended the Directors to allow an unhindered probe into activities of the EFCC, under the administration of embattled Ibrahim Magu, who was suspended last week as Acting Chairman of the Commission.
EFCC’s Executive Secretary, Olanipekun Olukoyede was among those suspended by President Buhari.
Olukoyede became the Secretary to the EFCC in November 2018 following confirmation by the Senate.
Olukoyede, who was the former Chief of Staff to Magu, replaced Emmanuel Aremo after the expiration of his five-year tenure in July 2018.
Already, suspended Ibrahim Magu is facing a presidential panel led by Justice Ayo Salami, who is probing various corrupt allegation levelled against the immediate past chairman of EFCC.
