REPS MEMBER SAYS INVESTMENT IN THE YOUTHS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE THE FUTURE
Beneficiaries of an enlightenment and empowerment programme on Information, Communication and Technology, ICT have hailed the member representing Port Harcourt Constituency two in the House of Representatives, Hon Chinyere Igwe, for organizing the programme.
Speaking to our Correspondent, HENRY DEE, during the training programme today in Port Harcourt, some of the beneficiaries, including Annem Godday, Chidinma Chimezie and Belema Aboiwarilasam among others, said the training would make them self reliant
They described the programme as educating, adding that the opportunity provided by the programme where they could use their smart phones to make money, would go along way to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 and #Endsars crises.
They commended the federal lawmaker, Hon Chinyere Igwe for organizing the programme for them, saying that they would not have to wait for government to feed themselves and members of their family.
On his part, the resource person, Revelation Ohoi noted that the programme was aimed at exposing the youths to leverage on opportunities on the internet space to become wealth creators
“We are here to teach them the value of entrepreneurship, help the identify systems and opportunities online that they can leverage and then go the next step to actually empower them.
“We will coach and mentor them over a period of three, four to five years.
“We are going to teach these people how to make money online, teach them how to manage the money they money they make and to multiply the money”.
Also speaking, Councilor Ward fourtheen in PHALGA, Hon Chidiebele Ibechejor, who represented Hon Chinyere Igwe, said the scheme was organized to teach the youths how to make money on their own
According to him, ” Hon Chinyere Igwe is a man who believes in teaching the youths how to fish but not giving them fish.
“He believes that the best way to build a future for the youths is this training we had here today”.
The Federal Lawmaker believes that investment in youths is the only way to guarantee the future of the nation.
