ANDONI PEOPLE CALL FOR THE PROSECUTION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN, PAUL LAWRENCE FOR FORGING WAEC RESULT
….as Police High Command arrest him
This period appears to be a rough time for the Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Mr Paul Lawrence Paul, following his alleged arrest and detention some days days ago by the Police, over allegations of forgery of his West African Examination Council, (WAEC) certificate for the purpose of contesting the last local government election in 2018.
The arrest of the local government Chairman, Paul Lawrence Paul was sequel to a petition against him dated 3rd September 2020 and addressed to the Inspector-General of Police by a group in Andoni LGA known as CONCERNED INDIGENES OF ANDONI and signed by Awajiroinwon John and Geoffrey Okaan Inyon Chairman and Secretary of the group respectively among others.
The group alleged that the Andoni local government Chairman did not attend the Rumueme Community Primary School from 1985 to 1987, where he claimed to have obtained his First School Leaving Certificate, let alone a WAEC result.
The group accused the Chairman of lying under oath, when he supplied his name as Lawrence Paul Paul in his PDP nomination form for the Chairmanship position in 2018 while the Certificate he parades with as his WAEC result bears the name; Paul Lawrence Paul.
The group however agreed that the name, Paul Lawrence Paul exists in the WAEC but that the Andoni Chairman only impersonated the name, as the passport photograph in the WAEC office shows the original owner of the Certificate, who is different from the Council Chairman.
The group is demanding that the council Chairman explains the discrepancy in the two names: Lawrence Paul Paul and Paul Lawrence Paul, urging him to also provide the First School Leaving Certificate from Rumueme Community Primary School, where he claimed he attended between 1985 and 1987 and got his certificate.
They further urged the Police to prosecute the council Chairman if he fails provide answers to their questions, adding that their lives are now under constant threats for speaking out.
When contacted, the Council Chairman, Paul Lawrence Paul confirmed to our correspondent, HENRY DEE that he was only invited by the Police but not arrested
When asked if he actually has a WAEC result or Certificate, the chairman told our correspondent to his investigation to WAEC office.
