RIVERS DEPUTY GOVERNOR ENCOURAGES WOMEN TO PROPAGATE GOSPEL, AS ANGLICAN CHURCH MARK MOTHERING SUNDAY
The Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo has urged Christian Mothers to be at the forefront in propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ, saying it is the only beacon of hope for Nigeria.
Dr. Banigo stated this at a Thanksgiving Service at St Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt, yesterday, Sunday, 14th,
during the celebration of this year’s (2021) Mothering Sunday, with the theme: “Women Awake from Your Slumber”.
The Deputy Governor further charged Christian mothers and wives to be the voice of peace and to bring unity where ever there is strife.
Leaning on the Motto of the Mothers Union, drawn from Philippians 4:13, which says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, the Deputy Governor encouraged Christian women to be strong.
According to her: “women be strengthened spiritually, physically and emotionally, be strengthened to be able to do exploits in the House of God and the Kingdom of God. You have the capacity in every sphere of life, you can make it; I am here just to encourage you”.
She expressed gratitude to the Mothers Union for conferring the Distinguished Mother of the Year Award on her.
“I want to say that receiving an award such as this from my own women, I am a member of this Union, I am a member of this Church and to me it is a very coveted conferment. For you to receive conferment from your own sisters and mothers means very much to me and I sincerely thank you for this wonderful award and I believe that God will also honour you, you will receive honour not only from men, you will receive honour from God Almighty”.
Also speaking, a former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir Gabriel Toby congratulated Dr. Banigo for her service to God and humanity and thanked the Mothers Union of St. Cyprian’s Church for the honour bestowed on her.
Earlier, the Guest Preacher, Hon. Justice Silverline Iragunima who spoke on the theme “Women Awake from Your Slumber”, taken from Rom.13:11, said the woman was created to help the man to carry out God’s work.
