PDP WINS ASSEMBLY BYE ELECTION IN KADUNA STATE
The candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Usman Baba (Ubale) has been declared winner of the bye election for Sabon Gari Constituency of Kaduna State House Assembly.
The Returning Officer, Dr Mohammed-Nuruddin Musa announced that Usman Baba was duly elected, having satisfied the requirements of law and polled the highest number of valid vote cast of 9,113.
He defeated the candidate fielded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Malam Musa A. Musa, who came a distant second by polling 7, 404 votes.
The Returning Officer equally Musa Halilu of PRP as scoring 305 votes; Anas Abdullahi of the ADC as polling 62 votes where as Chindo Ibrahim of ADP polled 61 votes.
Our correspondent gathered that there was a low turn out of eligible voters, during the election just as the electorates conducted themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner throughout the voting process.
The seat, Brave Views gathered was occupied by Hon. Aminu Shagali, who represented the constituency on the platform of the APC, was declared vacant in April after he was alleged to have abandoned activities of the Assembly for more than one year, following his removal as Speaker of the House.
