RIVERS MAGISTRATE ANGRY OVER TESTIMONY OF POLICE THAT SET OF TWINS IN THEIR CUSTODY ARE DEA

 

A Chief Magistrate in charge of Magistrate Court 15 in the Rivers State Judiciary, RITA OGUGO was visibly angry yesterday in court while presiding over a case of two count charge of felony and child trafficking levelled against one DENNIS CHIMEZIE residing at Igwuruta town in Ikwerre LGA and others now at large.

The Police had on the 7th of April 2021, arrested DENNIS CHIMEZIE, one FAVOUR ONYEKACHI ( a supposed Nani) and a commercial axis at Igwuruta round.

In their possession was a set of twins, a baby boy and a baby girl. They had just taken possession of the babies from two ladies who came from Owerri, claiming that the children were formally adopted from a motherless babies home.

One of those involved in the arrangement of the is a staff of the Correctional Centre (prisons) in Imo State, NICHOLAS CHIDIMMA MADUKA.

The set of twins was allegedly adopted for a couple who live overseas and related to DENNIS CHIMEZIE by marriage.

DENNIS CHIMEZIE told the court that the four childless couple asked to take possession of the children pending their return to Nigeria in December and that he was arrested shortly after the children were delivered to him around the airport round about at Omagwa.

He also explained that he gave the Police N40, 000 to take care of the children before his detention.

When the matter came up for hearing on Friday, Chief Magistrate, RITA OGUGO requested to know the where about of the set of twins, the Investigating Police Officer, ASP SATUMARI GABRIEL of the SCID disclosed that they were dead.

The IPO explained that he was directed by higher Police authorities to send the children to KOKO HOMES located at Eagle Iceland in Port Harcourt City LGA.

The Magistrate who was obviously not satisfied at the information of the IPO, ordered that the Director of KOKO HOMES, some Staff of the HOME, NICHOLAS CHIDIMMA MADUKA and FAVOUR ONYEKACHI appear in Court on the next adjourned date to explain their roles in the entire episode.

The Magistrate also ordered that CP EBOKA FRIDAY arrest and produce them to court should they fail to appear.
