….says treat them equally

A Professor of History and Diplomatic Studies with the IGNATIUS AJURU UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION and wife of ERASTUS CHARLES AWORTU, the Executive Chairman of Andoni LGA; Prof (Mrs.) BEATRICE AWORTU has advised parents and guidance not to discriminate between the male and female children, especially; in terms of academic training.

The female University Lecturer, who was recently promoted to the rank of a Professor issued the warning while speaking at a  Church Thanksgiving Service in her honour and that of husband.

While appreciating God for the promotion, Professor BEATRICE ERASTUS said advised parents and guidance to give equal opportunity to both sexes to excel.

“Our female children should be given the same platform with the male children.

“If my parents had not done that, the person you’re seeing here wouldn’t have been here and so, I want to encourage all of us that whether it’s a male or a female child, the important thing is that the child should be empowered. The child is still your child.

“I am still my parents child, even though, I’m married. So the notion that when a girl child is married, she is no longer a part of the family does not hold water. Please, let us all empower our girl child.

“In fact, for me, today is a day I have come to thank God for what he has done for me and my family, today is a day I have come to say God has exceeded my expectation because if it’s a man, it would not have been possible”.
