GOVERNOR WIKE HAS DWARFED PAST RIVERS GOVERNORS ON PERFORMANCE
The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area in Rivers State, ROWLAND CHARLES SEKIBO has said that the achievements of the State Governor, Barr NYESOM WIKE in six years have swallowed the achievements of former governors of the state.
ROWLAND SEKIBO said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt shortly after a one day colloquim organized to honour governor WIKE on his performance.
The Akuku-Toru council chairman said politics and governance are about adding value to lives of the people and contributing to societal good.
“Politics is local and politics is practical. Considering what you meet on ground as a leader, you ought to make an improvement.
“All of us can attest to the fact that, with what we met on ground in 2015, there has been a tremendous improvement because every government is supposed to be an improvement to the other.
“You can see that interms of infrastructural developments that WIKE has done so well, that is governance; that is why we are in politics, to make addition, to add value to the lives of our people”.
ROWLAND SEKIBO noted with joy that Governor WIKE has spread development projects in the grassroots, saying that there is no local government area in the state that has not seen governor WIKE’s footprint.
He disclosed that governor WIKE executes project that are needed by the people, stressing that the governor feels the pulse of the people before awarding projects so that, the projects could directly impact the lives of the people positively.
He disclosed that education is a cardinal objective of his administration, informing that he had concluded arrangements to award scholarship to over hundred indigenes of Akuku-Toru LGA.
He urged everyone in positions of trust to leave enduring legacies like governor NYESOM WIKE is doing.
“Life is all about legacy, not just with politicians, even you as press people, any where you are, whenever you have opportunity to serve, serve very well and leave legacies.
“You know, I tell people that leadership is about both privilege and responsibility. But a lot of people like to take the privilege aspect of it and leave the responsibility.
“You can see that nobody gave governor WIKE a chance before 2015, when he was coming and a lot of people did not believe that he will perform the way he has performed.
“But Governor NYESOM WIKE has proved all the doubting Thomases wrong.
“With respect to our former governors, WIKE has dwarfed all their achievements”.
