A business man and philanthropist, Engr (Dr.) CHUKWUDI DIMKPA has emphasized on the need for institutions of higher learning to establish research centres to enable Nigeria advance in different spheres of the economy like developed nations.

He noted that all developed nations experienced and are still experiencing industrial revolutions because they indulged in consistent and painstaking researches.

The Rivers born developer and politician said these while speaking as a special guest at a fund raising ceremony for the building of a Research Centre, organized by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, KENULE BENSON Polytechnic Chapter at Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area.

CHUKWUDI DIMKPA disclosed that the European Continent became the dominant world power for centuries until the outbreak of the world wars one and two due to on their commitment in research and subsequent implementation of the results of such researches.

CHUKWUDI DIMKPA, who is Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Strata Base Group, argued that the deployment of of intensive research Centres is capable of solving the many problems confronting Nigeria, instead of seeking foreign solutions and commended Academic Staff Union and the Polytechnic community for their thoughtfulness in establishing the Research Centre.

Furthermore, the business man said the proposed Research Centre at the SARO-WIWA Polytechnic Bori by ASUP, when completed would bring about lots of benefits.

“It will provide a secured and easy accessible store house and library for research materials and researchable results, it will provide a comfortable and conducive environment for researchers, lecturers and students to carry out their activities, it will improve the research capacities of the lecturers of this great institution, which will lead to a better and more up to to date learning experience for their students.

“With the Myriad of problems bedevilling our people, this centre can be a catalyst for the development of home grown solutions to the problems of pollution, agricultural efficiency and food security, technological advancement and educational advancement.

“I will like to implore this institution to focus on creating home grown solutions to our problems”.

Our correspondent reports that Engr CHUKWUDI DIMKPA was bestowed with a ‘Shining Star Award’ by the ASUP chapter of the Polytechnic.
