RIVERS COMMISSIONER ENDORSES WIKE’S FIGHT AGAINST ILLEGAL OIL REFINING

…… seeks maximum support for government to end sooth in Rivers State.

 

Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources in Rivers state, Dr. PETER MEDEE is excited at the determination and strategies adopted Governor NYESOM WIKE in the fight against artisanal refining activities.

In a statement made available to Brave Views in Port Harcourt, PETER MEDEE appealed to Rivers people to be patriotic and rally support for the government of Governor Nyesom Wike to put an end to the black sooth ravaging parts of the State.

In his reaction to the Governor’s broadcast last Sunday over the activities of illegal bunkering and artisanal refiners, Dr Medee commended Governor Wike on the bold steps taken to end the menace of black sooth.

He emphasized that the citizens have a role to play by being patriotic and supportive in order for government to win the war against the elements perpetrating the health and environmental hazards.

The Commissioner averred that endless criticisms of government policies without a suggestion for an alternative solution to the problem will aggravate the sufferings of the people.

He lamented the rate at which people criticize a policy that received such ovations as it were.

“I want to say that the Governor is on track and has not disappointed at all. Let us join hands to protect our environment today.

“The Governor’s action is the direction of the yearning of the people of the state and the Ministry long efforts to end the menace of the black sooth. Hence the cooperation of all is requested to support the government efforts towards ending the programme by being patriotic”.
