….hails President Buhari over appointment



Youths of Ogoni ethnic nationality in Rivers State under the aegis of Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF), the apex youth group in the area have congratulated the new Project Coordinator of the Hydrocarbon Pollution and Remediation Project (HYPREP), Professor Nenniibarini Zabbey on his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The OYF equally commended President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration for appointing a development expert as Project Coordinator of HYPREP.

Speaking to news men in Abuja on his three days working visit to the Federal Capital Territory, the President-General of OYF and Mene Legbo Zuguru of Ogoniland, Chief (Amb.) Legborsi Yamaabana said the appointment of Prof. Zabbey is well-deserved.

The Ogoni Youth Leader, Ambassador Legborsi Yamaabana further noted that the appointment of Prof. Zabbey confirms the confidence President Buhari and Ogoni people reposed in the newly appointed Project Coordinator of HYPREP to handle the very sensitive and high responsibility, such as the Remediation of the contaminated Ogoniland.

The President General of Ogoni Youth Federation (OFY), Amb Legborsi Yamaabana advised the new Project Coordinator to consider his appointment as a call to higher service and urged him to steer the ship of HYPREP to an enviable height that would give credence to the struggle of their forebears and leave a footprint on the sands of time and service to humanity.

Chief (Amb.) Legborsi Yamaabana also enjoined the HYPREP PC to develop an inclusive roadmap and people-oriented administration that would make a clear departure from the battered history of HYPREP.

“We trust that you will develop an inclusive blueprint, as we trust your leadership qualities will enhance sustainable development in Ogoniland as you bring your wealth of experience in the development sector cum technical know-how to bear for the speedy and successful clean-up of the contaminated lands of Ogoni”.

A statement made available to BraveViews by the Publicity Secretary of Ogoni Youth Federation Worldwide, Lene Kingsley Lekue, Esq, quotes the OYF President General, Chief Legborsi Yamaabana as pledging his unalloyed support to the HYPREP Project Coordinator and the Honorable Minister for Environment.

Legborsi Yamaabana, in the statement, also assured that Ogoni youths would give Prof Zabbey all the necessary supports needed by providing a rancour-free atmosphere to engage, operate and deliver on the mandates given to him by Mr. President and the extant laws of the land.
